Opened in March 2012, this large-scale inland aquarium follows the theme “Connecting Life with Water”. It is home to over 250 species and approximately 15,000 marine creatures, including Japanese giant salamanders (a national special natural monument), Cape penguins, spotted seals, various fish species, and mesmerizing jellyfish. The “Jellyfish Wonder” exhibit, introduced in July 2020, is a particularly popular attraction.
Within walking distance are the Kyoto Railway Museum and Umekoji Park, making this area an ideal family-friendly destination for a full day of fun.
