Osamu Tezuka, the creator of over 700 titles, including Astro Boy, Jungle Emperor (Kimba the White Lion), Phoenix, and Black Jack, spent about 20 years in Takarazuka from the age of 5 to 24. The Takarazuka City Tezuka Osamu Memorial Museum allows visitors to immerse themselves in Tezuka’s manga world, enjoy anime screenings, and even experience anime production.
The museum was established to carry forward Tezuka’s lifelong themes of “love for nature” and “the preciousness of life,” inspiring dreams and hope for future generations. Its exterior is designed to resemble a European-style castle, featuring a symbolic glass globe inspired by Tezuka’s essay Save Our Planet of Glass. Inside, visitors can explore exhibits showcasing Tezuka’s personal belongings and works, as well as participate in hands-on activities like creating their own animations.
