From the end of the hot summer to the beginning of the fall foliage, pretty flowers bloom beautifully under the fresh blue sky. There are many colorful and beautiful sights unique to this season. In addition to introducing typical autumn flowers and plants, we will also introduce autumn flower spots in the Kansai region. The best time to see the flowers is only a guide, so please check the web before you go. 【Cosmos】 Best time to visit: early October to early November (NARA)HANNYAJI (HYOGO・AMAGASAKI)Mukogawa Hige no watashi cosmos garden (OSAKA)Toyono Cosmos-no-sato (OSAKA)Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park 【Kochia】 Best time to visit: Early October to late October (OSAKA)Expo ’70 Commemorative Park (HYOGO)Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden (SHIGA)Biwako Hakodateyama 【Dahlia】 Best time to visit: early October to early November (HYOGO・TAKARAZUKA)Takarazuka Dahlia Garden (HYOGO・KAWANISHI)Kurokawa Dariya Garden 【Rose】 Best time to visit: Mid-October to early November (HYOGO・ITAMI)Aramaki Rose Park (HYOGO・SUMA)Kobe Suma Rikyu Park (OSAKA)Nakanoshima Rose Garden The cosmos is a typical Japanese autumnal flower. Blooming in the autumn sky, swaying gently in the wind, cosmos make a magnificent sight when planted in clusters. They come in a variety of colors, including pink, red, white, and yellow. Hannya-ji Temple is known as a temple where flowers bloom from season to season. It is especially famous for its cosmos in autumn and is nicknamed “Cosmos Temple”. About 150,000 cosmos trees of 30 different varieties are planted, and when they are in full bloom, the cosmos flowers look as if they are enveloping the old hall and stone Buddha, creating a charming atmosphere. Glittering glass cubes of cosmos are placed here and there in the precincts of the temple. These glass squares are decorated with cosmos flowers floating in water, looking like jewels. The Mukogawa Hige no watashi cosmos garden was established in 2003. The riverbed, which was once in disrepair, has been transformed into a magnificent cosmos garden through the efforts of local residents. It has now become a well-known cosmos garden, attracting many visitors every year. From mid-October to mid-November, when the cosmos are in full bloom, a carpet of approximately 5.5 million brightly colored cosmos will spread over the riverbed. The cosmos garden was started by flower enthusiasts about 30 years ago, and is a popular cosmos viewing spot that attracts many tourists and photographers from within and outside of the prefecture. The handmade, warm space and atmosphere are also attractive. About one million cosmos bloom all over the approximately 1 hectare park. Visitors can take pictures of themselves completely enveloped by the tall cosmos, which are about the height of an adult. At the Windmill Hill in Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, there are about 10,000 cosmos flowers in bloom. In addition, there are various types of plants such as roses and metasequoia trees, and families and couples can relax and enjoy themselves. Within the park, there are cafes such as Komeda Coffee and Starbucks, and you can also bring your own lunch and eat it on the benches in the park. To the northwest of Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, there is “Children’s Forest” and “Tsurumikko Park,” which feature composite play equipment for children aged 3 to 12. Additionally, just outside Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park Station, there is the natural hot spring “Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park Onsen Suisyun,” making it a great place to enjoy a full day with your family. Kochia is a unique and lovely plant with a fluffy appearance that multiplies very well. At first it is green, but in autumn its leaves turn red, a very vivid and beautiful red. The kochia at the National Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture is a popular sightseeing spot in autumn. The kochia trees growing in clusters over a large area are a spectacular sight. Since 2022, about 4,000 kochia plants have been planted in Osaka’s Expo ’70 Commemorative Park on the hill of flowers, and as of the end of September, they are gradually changing color. This fall, the “Cosmos Kochia Festa” will be held from October 1 to October 30, where visitors can enjoy autumn flowers. We are looking forward to seeing the kochia that have grown so well over the summer turn bright red when autumn arrives. There are three cute little brothers and sisters hiding among the kochia in Expo ’70 Commemorative Park. The largest kochia field in the Kansai region is sure to become a new landmark! Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden is located just a short distance from downtown Kobe and Kitano Foreigner’s House. Take the ropeway for a 10-minute ride while enjoying the view of Kobe’s cityscape below. The garden welcomes visitors with approximately 200 varieties and 75,000 plants of herbs and flowers throughout the four seasons. The fluffy kochia and the view of Kobe’s cityscape can only be enjoyed at the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden. Biwako Hakodateyama in Shiga can be enjoyed as a ski resort in winter. In summer and fall, numerous seasonal flowers delight visitors. Hakodateyama Kochia Park has 6,000 kochia trees planted along its slopes. Not only kochia but also colorful flowers are in full bloom and the park is filled with flowers. Hakodateyama is reached by gondola with a view of Lake Biwa. From the terrace with chairs on the observation deck, where a large panorama spreads out, you can see Lake Biwa and the flower garden below. Dahlias have great presence and power! Their large, bright flowers make their surroundings pop with color. They are popular not only for bouquets and arrangements, but also for gardening. The flowers come in a great variety of blooming styles, colors, and shapes. At Takarazuka Dahlia Garden, about 20,000 dahlias of 50 varieties are grown, and visitors can appreciate the colorful red, yellow, pink, and other flowers. The northern part of Takarazuka City is one of the largest dahlia bulb-producing areas in Japan, and the dahlia has been recognized as Takarazuka’s city flower. Dahlias bloom twice a year, in summer and fall. Takarazuka Dahlia Garden will be open for a limited time from mid-July to early August in summer and from early October to early November in fall. Opening dates: October 1 to November 3, 2025 Kurokawa, Kawanishi City is located in the northernmost part of Kawanishi City and has been selected as one of the “100 best Nihon-no-sato” areas. The Kurokawa Dariya Garden is located at the foot of a nature-rich satoyama. It is operated by a local farmer. The Dariya Garden is adjacent to the Chimei Lake Campground. Approximately 1,000 dahlias of about 300 varieties are planted near the campground. The cool morning and evening temperatures make the flowers even more beautiful. Why don’t you come and see the gorgeous flowers blooming in the peaceful satoyama? Opening dates: Thursday, September 25, 2025 to Sunday, November 9, 2025 The number of rose varieties is very large, ranging from 30,000 to 100,000 and even more. These flowers bloom twice a year, in spring and fall, and delight us with their many varieties and colors, including white, red, pink, yellow, and blue. About 250 varieties of roses from around the world, 10,000 of them, bloom and fragrance the entire 1.7 hectare area of the garden. The “Amatsu Otome” and “Madame Viollet,” both born in Itami, are world-famous. The antique brick masonry plantings, columns, and white walls give the building a Southern European atmosphere and enhance the beauty of the roses. Kobe Suma Rikyu Park is a park overlooking the city of Kobe and Osaka Bay. The rose garden, said to be one of the best in the Kansai region, has about 300 varieties and 4,000 rose bushes in bloom, allowing visitors to enjoy colorful flowers and rich fragrances. The best time to see autumn roses is usually from mid-October to mid-November. In addition to roses, Kobe Suma Rikyu Park features a field athletics area, a rest house, and an eastern plant garden zone with an observation greenhouse, flower gardens, Japanese-style rooms, and Japanese-style gardens, making it an ideal spot to spend the day with family or friends. Located between the Dojima River and the Tosabori River, this is one of the best places in Osaka for roses. The “Rose Path” along the river and the rose garden are filled with 3,700 roses of about 310 varieties, including modern roses and English roses. Located one stop from Osaka Umeda Station, the park is surrounded by buildings and colorful roses. You can buy a box lunch and eat it in the park, or there is a café with terrace seating on the opposite side of the rose garden where you can overlook the entire rose garden. Nearby are “Nakanoshima Children’s Book Forest,” an architecture by Tadao Ando, and “Osaka City Central Public Hall,” popular for its retro architecture, making it possible to enjoy the surrounding spots along with sightseeing in the Nakanoshima Rose Garden. How was it? Autumn in Japan is the season of colored leaves, but there are many other places where you can enjoy autumn flowers and plants. Autumn is the perfect season to go out. Enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery that can only be seen at this time of year!

A Guide to Hankyu Railway’s Reserved Seat Service “PRiVACE”| Make Your Journey Comfortable between Osaka and Kyoto!
Hankyu Railway operates primarily around three major lines—Kobe Line, Takarazuka Line, and Kyoto Line—with its terminal station located at Osaka-Umeda. The Kyoto Line is especially popular thanks to the scenic “Kyo-Train Garaku” and special collaboration trains featuring beloved characters. But did you know there’s also a reserved seat service available exclusively on the Kyoto Line? In this article, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know about “PRiVACE,” Hankyu Railway’s reserved seat service—from how to purchase tickets and board the train to its key features and onboard etiquette. Index What is PRiVACE? How to Purchase PRiVACE Tickets Where and How to Board PRiVACE Luggage and Suitcases Policy on PRiVACE Key Features of PRiVACE Convenient Amenities on Board Etiquette to Follow When Riding PRiVACE Hankyu Railway’s reserved seat service PRiVACE is available between Osaka-Umeda Station and Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station, with 1 to 4 trains running per hour on weekdays and 1 to 5 on weekends and holidays. To use PRiVACE, you’ll need to pay the standard fare plus a seat reservation fee of 500 yen (tax included). It’s recommended to reserve your PRiVACE seat in advance via the official reservation website (no membership registration required). Reservations open 14 days before the travel date, and the process—reservation and payment—takes about 5 minutes. Up to 4 seats can be reserved at once. Each train has 40 reserved seats (1 car), and some dates or time slots may sell out, so early booking is advised. Please note: The PRiVACE reservation fee does not include regular train fare. You’ll need to pay the base fare separately using an IC card, contactless credit card, or ticket. If you’re planning to travel extensively around Osaka, Kyoto, or even to places like Arashiyama or Kobe, consider getting a Hankyu 1day Pass ticket for added convenience and savings. If you want to check the operation schedule or seat availability, the official reservation website is the most convenient tool. If you wish to purchase a PRiVACE ticket on the day of travel, simply speak to the attendant on board the PRiVACE car. For same-day purchases, you can pay by cash or IC cards (such as ICOCA or PiTaPa). Please note that tickets cannot be purchased from station staff or at ticket vending machines. Also, make sure to board the PRiVACE car directly if you intend to purchase your ticket on the day. There is no dedicated platform for PRiVACE. At Osaka-Umeda Station, board from the Kyoto Line platform, specifically Car No. 4, Door No. 2 on an 8-car train. Look for PRiVACE boarding markers on the platform floor. If you’ve made a reservation in advance, no physical ticket is required at boarding. So just arrive at the platform before departure time, board the correct train at your reserved time, and find your seat as indicated in your booking. “PRiVACE” has a shared luggage area where you can place suitcases or strollers. You may bring up to two items on board for free, provided that the length of any one side does not exceed 2 meters, the total of all three dimensions does not exceed 2.5 meters, and the weight of each item is within 30 kilograms. Notes: *The luggage area is for the shared use of PRiVACE passengers. Please be considerate and share the space. *Please ensure that your luggage does not protrude into the aisle. *Passengers are responsible for managing their own luggage. The PRiVACE seating layout is a comfortable 3-seat arrangement: 2 seats on one side and 1 seat on the other (“2+1” configuration). Compared to regular cars, each seat offers wider cushions and more legroom, making the approximately 43-minute ride between Osaka and Kyoto a relaxing experience — perfect for resting after a day of sightseeing. Even if you board from Juso or Awaji stations, reserving PRiVACE in advance ensures a smooth and comfortable journey to Kyoto. Each row has its own dedicated window, allowing you to enjoy the scenic views along the Hankyu Kyoto Line as you travel. PRiVACE is equipped with a variety of convenient features not found in standard cars. Here are three facilities that are especially useful during travel. 1. Power Outlet Each seat is equipped with a power outlet, making it convenient for charging smartphones or laptops. 2. Wi-Fi You can use HH cross Wi-Fi and HANKYU TRAIN FREE Wi-Fi. The HANKYU TRAIN FREE Wi-Fi requires no registration and can be used with just an email address. 3. Table Ideal for those who wish to work on a laptop while traveling. This doesn’t apply only to “PRiVACE,” but there are a few manners to keep in mind when riding trains in Japan. Knowing them in advance will help ensure a comfortable ride. ● Take your trash with you There are no trash bins on the train, so please take your garbage with you. ● Don’t speak loudly On public transportation in Japan, it is common courtesy to keep your voice down. In particular, “PRiVACE” is designed around the concept of turning everyday “travel time” into “personal time” spent in a private space. Rather than just a means of getting from one place to another, it aims to provide a space where you can relax, read, or prepare for work in peace. Please set your phone to silent mode, refrain from talking on the phone, and enjoy a quiet and comfortable ride. Why not enjoy a comfortable journey between Osaka and Kyoto aboard “PRiVACE”? You can make a reservation easily through the official booking website. In addition to “PRiVACE,” there are many other recommended trains. Hop on different trains and make the most of your travel time! Kyo-Train Garaku | Feel Kyoto, From the Moment You Step On Board – Specially Designed Train “Kirby × Hankyu Railway” Collaboration! In other countries, fireworks are often shot off at New Year’s Eve events. In Japan, they are said to have taken root in the summer time to avoid the sweltering heat of summer days and to enjoy the cooler weather. At fireworks festivals held in various locations, many people are seen wearing yukata, a traditional Japanese summer garment, to enjoy the once-a-year event. The yukata is usually worn with geta (Japanese wooden clogs) and an uchiwa (Japanese fan) or fan for relief from the heat. For yukata rentals, we recommend Kyo Aruki produced by KYOTO SAGANOKAN! Food stalls are often set up in the vicinity of the fireworks display, and these stalls are also a source of enjoyment. In addition to takoyaki, yakitori, cotton candy, shaved ice, and other gourmet food stalls, there are also yo-yo scooping, target shooting, and other game stalls that are very lively. Another popular way to enjoy summer evenings is to set off handheld fireworks in your own yard or at a park. Especially popular are sparklers. It is a traditional Japanese handheld firework that burns dramatically from the moment it is characterized by the dramatic way it burns from the moment it is lit to the moment it extinguishes. They are beautiful and stir the senses. Japanese fireworks are among the most delicate and beautiful in the world! Fireworks are popular all over the world, but Japanese fireworks are said to be particularly delicate and artistic. They have a beautiful spherical shape that never goes out of shape, colors that change midway, and the graceful way they all light up and disappear at the same time. The elaborate and gorgeous fireworks, which pyrotechnists have studied and improved over the years with their craftsmen’s souls, show the aesthetic sense of the Japanese people. But you can’t appreciate the splendor of the fireworks until you actually see them! The following is a list of fireworks displays held in the Kansai region, so please come and see the world-class Japanese fireworks with your own eyes! [Hyogo] The 47th Ashiya Summer Carnival Saturday, July 26, 2025 Scheduled for 19:45 – 20:30 Light rain will be held, cancelled in case of stormy weather Ashiya City General Park facing the sea is the main venue for this event, which is run mainly by Ashiya citizens. Stage performances are held, fair stalls are set up, and the place is bustling from the noon time. This year, the fireworks are even more powerful! A cutting-edge entertainment with flames, fireworks, and music will be presented for about 45 minutes.

Entry to the fireworks show is available only to holders of sponsor bleacher tickets or civic plaza admission tickets. There are seven types of sponsored bleacher tickets, including arena seats in the front row and bleacher seats with chairs for comfortable viewing. This new beach area provides direct access to the front row of the beach where you can view the fireworks from the front. [Osaka] Tenjin Festival Dedication Fireworks Friday, July 25, 2025 19:30 – 20:50 Cancelled in case of stormy weather If you want to experience the mood of a Japanese festival, the dedicated fireworks of Tenjin Matsuri is recommended! Tenjin Matsuri, one of the three major festivals in Japan, has a history of more than 1,000 years. The Tenjin Matsuri ends with a dedication fireworks display. Approximately 3,000 fireworks are launched as a dedication to the gods. About 100 boats, including boats decorated with traditional dolls on the bow and boats with bonfires lit, come and go along the Okawa River, the site of the festival. The fireworks shining in the sky and the lively river are a picturesque sight! If you visit Japan, this is a festival you must see at least once.
