Bamboo groves are one of the most popular things to see when visiting Kyoto, but in fact, Arashiyama is not the only place with bamboo groves. Kyoto City Rakusai Bamboo Forest Park, a rare spot in Kyoto, is one of the few parks in the world that specializes in bamboo. Around the park, there is a beautiful bamboo forest walking path called “Takenomichi”. The total length of the path is approximately 1,8 km, and the path is decorated with various beautifully designed bamboo fences.

At Oharano Shrine, you can find guardian deer statues and a deer-themed purification fountain, reminiscent of Nara. The deer motifs on omikuji (fortune slips) and omamori (charms) are also popular for their cuteness. The shrine offer beautiful seasonal views, including cherry blossoms in spring and colorful leaves in autumn. Along the path to the shrine is a pond, often called ‘Kyoto’s Monet’s Water Lilies Pond,’ which has buzzed on social media.
