The Kinki University Fisheries Laboratory conducts research into a range of fish, including the first bluefin tuna to be successfully farmed throughout its entire lifecycle, as well as red sea bream, yellowtail, Japanese horse mackerel, Japanese flounder, and longtooth grouper. The laboratory also serves cuisine prepared using these aquafarmed fish, which are carefully managed from the time they hatch until they are shipped.
