With its exotic atmosphere, this is one of Kobe’s representative shopping districts. Comprising five areas—1-bangai, 3-chome, 4-chome, 5-chome, and 6-chome—the street is 1.2 km in length. Stores and facilities along the street are diverse, including fashion boutiques, restaurants, household goods, fortune tellers, hospitals, and art galleries. Amongst these are long-established businesses that have been in operation for over 100 years. Blending old stores with new, the street is a “new yet nostalgic town.”
