The foreign currency exchange machine presented here can exchange money for foreign currencies from 14 different countries.

U.S. dollar, euro, Chinese yuan, British pound, Canadian dollar, Korean won, Australian dollar, Taiwan dollar, Hong Kong dollar, Singapore dollar, Thai baht, Malaysian ringgit, Philippine peso, and Indonesian rupiah.

Most of the major foreign countries that are often visited from Japan is covered.

Please note that only banknotes can be exchanged, but the following banknotes are not supported.

CAD (Canadian dollar): $5

GBP (British Pound Sterling): 1 pound, 5 pounds, 50 pounds

SGD (Singapore dollar): $2, $5

MYR (Malaysian Ringgit): 1 ringgit, 5 ringgit

IDR (Indonesian Rupiah): 1.000, 2.000, 5.000, 10.000 and 20.000 Rupiah

HKD (Hong Kong dollar): $10, $20, $50

PHP (Philippine peso): 20 pesos, 50 pesos

THB (Thai baht): 20 baht, 50 baht

This foreign currency exchange machine not only converts cash, but also allows you to charge your prepaid transportation cards directly from the machine.

Nine prepaid transportation cards are supported: ICOCA, Suica, PASMO, Kitaca, TOICA, manaca, SUGOCA, nimoca and Hayakaken. (PiTaPa is not supported.)

You can find it in about 3-minute walk from Hankyu Osaka-umeda Station.

• Go out from the central ticket gate on the second floor of Hankyu Osaka-umeda Station.
• Go down the big escalator or the stair in front of you for only one floor (the currency exchange machine is on the first floor).
• Turn left and go straight seeing a big monitor display (called bigman) and Kinokuniya Bookstore on your left hand.
• If you walk past the Kinokuniya Bookstore, you will find the machine on your left hand, near the entrance of Umecha koji.

This would be a good place to stop by on your way out!

You can even operate it with a smartphone that reads the QR code displayed!

The foreign currency exchange machine, is unattended, so if you have any questions, you can use the cell phone on the left side of the machine.

Now let’s actually exchange money.First, select the foreign currency you want to exchange. At this time, you will also know the exchange rate.

The good thing about unattended exchange machines is that you can immediately stop the exchange without hesitation if you decide that you don’t want to exchange money at this rate.

This time, you will exchange 100 Taiwan dollars.

Next, you can choose whether to exchange money in cash or charge it to a prepaid transportation cards.

Insert money. Only paper currency can be exchanged. Some foreign currencies may not be exchanged in small denominations.

This time I put in $100 Taiwan dollars, so the exchange rate was 4,23…what an advance to 430 yen! Yay!

There is one more foreign currency exchange machine located at Hankyu Osaka-umeda station.

This one is located in front of “TULLEY’S COFFEE” of HANKYU SANBAN GAI South Bldg.

There are also two locations at Hanshin Osaka-Umeda Station. One in front of the East Exit ticket gate of Hanshin Osaka-Umeda Station.

The other location is right next to “Mister Donut Hanshin Osaka Umeda Station Shop” near the west exit of Hanshin Osaka Umeda Station. *The location may be moved.
