This path, named after Japanese philosopher Nishida Kitaro who used to take walks here deep in thought, follows a canal for about 2 kilometers at the base of Higashiyama. It has been chosen as one of the 100 best roads in Japan and is extremely popular as a place for walking. Some 500 cherry trees bloom on both sides of the river, dyeing the water light pink to create a romantic landscape.
