A shrine that enshrines “Ebisu-sama,” a god of prosperous business and family safety, who has long been cherished by the locals as “Ama-no Ebbe-ssan (Ebisu-sama in Amagasaki).” The large 17-meter-tall torii gate serves as a landmark of the city. In the precincts are also enshrined a deity of marriage, fox deities for making a wish, and “Tsukiishi,” a stone for good luck. Also popular are amulets that come in a variety of types and the picture depicted on the goshuin (red ink seal) that changes every month. The Toka Ebisu Grand Festival held on January 9th, 10th, and 11th every year is very exciting with the worshipers shouting, “Bring in bamboo grass for prosperous business!” It is said that if you paste money on the large tuna offered in front of the main shrine, you will receive good fortune.
